EECO2 Privacy Policy

PRIVACY

‘EECO2’ or ‘us’ or ‘we’ refers to Energy Efficiency Consultancy Ltd, whose registered office is Suite 9, The Green, Fountain Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1JN. Our company registration number is 5823130.

INTRODUCTION

At EECO2 we respect your right to privacy and understand that you want to keep control of your personal information. We believe in being transparent about what data we are collecting and why and are committed to protecting any information you share with us.

We will never sell, distribute or intentionally make your personal information public and have implemented appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect the data you share with us from loss and preserve its security and confidentiality.

PERSONAL DATA

HOW DO WE COLLECT YOUR DATA?

We normally collect your data when you provide it to us; this may be by email; through an online web form; when you subscribe to our newsletter; when you download resources from our website; over the telephone; face to face; or by post.

WHAT SORT OF DATA DO WE COLLECT?

Typically, we would collect your name and email address when you make contact with us and we may also collect company name and telephone number.

Like most businesses we use Google Analytics to help understand how our website is being discovered and interacted with and we use this information to help improve the experience for our visitors and make decisions about future development. Google Analytics presents us with aggregate information about the geographic location, device types and operating systems used by our website visitors, but not in a way that personally identifies you. Additionally Google will record your computer’s IP address and set a number of temporary cookies in your browser to help distinguish you as an individual visitor as you move around our site. In the interests of limiting the amount of data Google collects via our site we are using Google’s standard Analytics implementation and have not enabled any additional advertising features, such as remarketing tags which would tie your usage of our site in with your broader browsing habits.

WHY DO WE COLLECT THIS DATA?

EECO2 collects and processes personal data for the following:

  • To respond to requests for information sent to us
  • To keep you informed about news and events that may be of interest to you through communications and/or newsletters
  • To supply you with a service or fulfil a contract which you have with us
  • To analyse and improve our website and marketing performance

OUR LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING YOUR DATA

In general terms we will only collect and use your information where:

  • It is necessary for us to provide you with a service, including for support or to protect the safety and security of the services itself.
  • It satisfies a legitimate interest which is not overridden by your data protection interests.
  • You have given us consent to do so for a specific purpose.
  • We need to process your data to comply with a legal obligation.

HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR DATA?

Information sent to us via our website is sent over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Our SMTP servers are protected by TLS (sometimes known as SSL) meaning that the email content is encrypted using SHA-2, 256-bit cryptography before being sent across the internet. The email content is then decrypted by our local computers and devices.

We protect our IT system from cyber attack. Access to your personal data is password-protected, and sensitive data is secured by encryption.

We regularly monitor our system for possible vulnerabilities and attacks, and we carry out due diligence on any third party providers who will be responsible for your data.

WHO DO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH?

We sometimes share your personal data with trusted third parties.  We only do this where it is necessary for providing services, fulfilling a contract or for the effective operation of EECO2.

For example, we may share your data with third party providers of marketing and customer relationship management software such as MailChimp and Hubspot (see below for more details on these); selected sub-contractors and other third party service providers.

The policy we apply to those organisations to keep your data safe and protect your privacy is as follows:

  • We provide only the information they need to provide their specific services;
  • They may only use your data for the exact purposes we specify in our contract with them;
  • We work closely with them to ensure that your privacy is respected and protected at all times;
  • If we stop using their services, any of your data held by them will either be deleted or rendered anonymous.

EMAIL NEWSLETTER

We use MailChimp for our email marketing. You can subscribe to our newsletter via our website and we also add new contacts to our MailChimp database if we consider them to be suitable on the grounds of legitimate interest, for example if you are a corporate contact and have downloaded resources from our website. Data is held securely by MailChimp and they won’t share your information with any unauthorised third parties or contact you directly at any time – you can read their full privacy policy here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

 Your email address will remain within MailChimp’s database for as long as we continue to use MailChimp’s services for email marketing or until you specifically request removal from the list. You can do this by unsubscribing using the unsubscribe links contained in any email newsletters that we send you or by requesting removal via email to info@eeco2.com. When requesting removal via email, please send your email to us using the email account that is subscribed to the mailing list.

If you are under 16 years of age you MUST obtain parental consent before joining our email newsletter.

While your email address remains within the MailChimp database, you will receive periodic (approximately four times a year) newsletter-style emails from us.

HUBSPOT

EECO2 uses HubSpot as a customer relationship management system, in order to ensure that we can track and respond to enquiries and develop sales leads. Contact details of existing and potential clients are therefore stored in HubSpot’s database, which is subject to all necessary security and privacy considerations – you can read their full privacy policy here https://legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy

DATA ACCESS/REMOVAL REQUESTS

The General Data Protection Regulation (2018) gives you the right to know what personal data we hold, to have it updated if it is inaccurate or removed entirely if you no longer consent to our use of it. We will endeavour to respond to any such requests within one month confirming receipt and outlining what follow-up actions will be taken and when.

COOKIES

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

As is common practice with almost all professional websites this site uses cookies to distinguish individual visitors to our website and to provide a more useful and personalised experience. Cookies are tiny text files that are downloaded to your computer, to improve your experience. This page describes what information they gather, how we use it and why we sometimes need to store these cookies.

DISABLING COOKIES

You can prevent the setting of cookies by adjusting the settings on your browser (see your browser Help for how to do this). Be aware that disabling cookies will affect the functionality of this and many other websites that you visit. Therefore it is recommended that you do not disable cookies.

WHAT COOKIES WE USE

Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA) to track user interaction. We use this data to determine the number of people using our site, to better understand how they find and use our web pages and to see their journey through the website.

Although GA records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. GA also records your computer’s IP address which could be used to personally identify you but Google do not grant us access to this.

GA makes use of cookies, details of which can be found on Google’s developer guides.

Disabling cookies on your internet browser will stop GA from tracking any part of your visit to pages within this website.

This website also has links to HubSpot, which is a Customer Relationship Management tool, that is linked to this website via each form you may complete. So, if you input your data into the forms (e.g. contact us), HubSpot is able to save this data and ensure the EECO2 team deal with your enquiry in a timely manner.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

EECO2 has the discretion to update this Privacy Policy at any time in line with legislation or industry developments. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect.
